Problem: Armed Institute of
Pathology (AFIP)
AFIP being the biggest and most respected
pathology institution in country was posed with a problem
of massive rise in volume over the last few years. Trees
was called in 1999 to carry out a pilot software to be able
to devise a solutions and recommendations enabling AFIP
to manage Receptions, Analysis Procedures, Reports, Internal
processing and Analyzer Interfacing involving the various
sections like Hematology, Histopathology, Virology, Microbiology,
Immunology, Chemistry and Endocrinology.
AFIP is armed forces premier and biggest pathology unit
is country, it is located in Rawalpindi. It provide analysis
testing services to not host of hospitals in and around
AFIP, and much beyond to other peripheral hospitals of army
and civil where specialized analysis are required. With
a wider sphere of operations AFIP needed a system which
can not only ensure smooth operations within the lab, rather
a more wider connectivity options must be built in.
Based on pilot objectives, a comprehensive plan of integrated
automation for AFIP was envisaged involving the automation
of complete work flow for lab and design strategy for connecting
other peripheral and panel hospitals to AFIP.
Pulse is an Integrated product which came as a solution
of AFIP and for entire pathology industry no mater how small
or big a lab is. Trees has invested huge resources in consulting
to gear AFIP up to adopt such a solution and run on sustained
basis. The master data involving setting up of delivery
schedules, linkage to Analysis KITs, Multiple ranges based
on ages and Sex, Group Tests (e.g Renal Profile), and Specific
Report Formats, and Researching on diverse analyzers protocols
and connectivity issues has geared Trees to start any lab
with a space of few weeks.
Being in possession of domain
knowledge and valuable startup data parameters,
Trees is a player who can setup up
and automate lab in shortest possible time. The testimony
to this has been the PNS Shifa, Karachi another big lab
was setup by Trees in a span of only twelve weeks.
