General Ledger System
A General Ledger application forms
the backbone of every financial application suite. It
is the core around which the system evolves. The market
today is awash with a variety of proprietary general ledger
applications that bind closely to other systems delivered
by the same software company, as also to database and
operating system platforms..
Trees, on the other hand, has produced a robust General
Ledger application called Munshiji, using the open source
Java programming language and MySql database. For starters
it is more cost effective since MySQL is a scalable, high
performance, very low cost alternative to today’s
SQL databases.
Munshiji is also portable. Written in standard SQL the
application can be ported to almost any operating system
and database environment, allowing a company to preserve
its investment in existing hardware, operating system
and database. For new installations our recommended package
of a Linux server running MySQL and Java provides an accounting
solution that is less expensive than a single licenses
computer.
